Resumo do Argumento

The Hoover family is the dictionary definition for the word "dysfunctional". The dad Richard (Greg Kinnear, As Good as It Gets) is a man who gives lectures on winners and losers, the wife is Sheryl (Toni Collete, The Sixth Sense), a chain-smoking housewife. The uncle is Frank (Steve Carrell, The 40 Year Old Virgin), who is not only gay, but recently attempted suicide. The grandpa is Edwin (Alan Arkin, Firewall), a drug addict. The son is Dwayne (Paul Dano, Fast Food Nation) a rebel who has vowed not to talk until he gets into the Air Force. And then there is Olive (Abigail Breslin, Signs), a seven-year old girl who dreams of going to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. So what happens when they do?

Resumo do Argumento

Based upon JJ Connelly's London crime novel, "LAYER CAKE" is about a successful cocaine dealer (DANIEL CRAIG) who has earned a respected place among England's Mafia elite and plans an early retirement from the business. However, big boss Jimmy Price hands down a tough assignment: find Charlotte Ryder, the missing rich princess daughter of Jimmy's old pal Edward, a powerful construction business player and gossip papers socialite. Complicating matters are two million pounds' worth of Grade A ecstasy, a brutal neo-Nazi sect and a whole series of double crossings. The title "LAYER CAKE" refers to the layers or levels the dealer has to go through as he painstakingly plots his own escape. What is revealed is a modern underworld where the rules have changed. There are no 'codes', or 'families' and respect lasts as long as a line. Not knowing who he can trust, he has to use all his 'savvy', 'telling' and skills which make him one of the best, to escape his own. The ultimate last job, a love interest called Tammy and an international drugs ring, threaten to draw him back into the 'cake mix'. But, time is running out and the penalty will endure a lifetime..

In the tradition of Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay, filmmaker Christiane Cegavske offers an adult oriented, stop motion fairy tale thirteen years in the making. Told strictly through imagery and without the aid of dialogue, Blood Tea and Red String focuses on the ongoing struggle waged between the aristocratic White Mice and the rustic Creatures Who Dwell Under the Oak to win the heart of an exquisite doll. Commissioned by the mice to create the beautiful doll, the Oak Dwellers lovingly set about crafting the most remarkable doll ever assembled. Upon completing their assignment, however, the Oak Dwellers immediately fall under the spell of their own fantastic creation and refuse to hand her over to the mice. The determined mice aren't about to give up so easily though, and soon set out on a moonlight mission to retrieve the coveted creation.
